Today you will meet up with your driver guide in the morning depart with picnic lunch boxes for a full day game drive. Alternatively you may enjoy a morning and afternoon game drives. One of the amazing things about Samburu is that you'll most likely see species that are unique to this region. The Grevy's zebra (Equus grevyi), also known as the imperial zebra, is the largest species of zebra. It is found in the Samburu area as well as parts of Ethiopia. Compared to other zebras, it is taller, has larger ears, and its stripes are narrower. Grevy's zebra is considered endangered, partly due to hunting for its skin, which fetches a high price on the world market. It also suffers habitat destruction, human disturbances at water holes and competition with domestic grazing animals. There are estimated to be 17.000 Grevy's zebra still living in the wild. With luck, you'll see some today!

Another species unique to the Samburu region is the gerenuk. With luck, you'll see some while on your game drive. It's amazing to watch them stand on their hind legs to eat! The gerenuk (also known as Waller's gazelle) is a long-necked species of antelope found in dry bushy shrub and steppe in East Africa. The word gerenuk comes from the Somali language, meaning “giraffe-necked”, and leads to its other common name, the giraffe-necked antelope.

Depart from Laikipia to Lake Nakuru National Park, through the Great Rift Valley via the Thompson's Falls named after Joseph Thompson who was the first European to walk from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the early 1880's. The drive illustrates the beautiful and unusual contrast between the Rift Valley's shallow soda lakes - populated by white pelicans, pink flamingos and other water birds - and the verdant woodlands. We arrive in time for lunch. Once in the park, embark on a short game drive en route to the Lake Nakuru Lodge, arriving in time for a delicious lunch. Enjoy afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National park famed for being home to thousands of lesser and greater flamingoes. Pass the impressive Longonot Earth Satellite Station as you head across the Valley to Narok the capital town for Masai people. This drive will take about five to six hours. Drive times may be longer in the rainy season (April to early May and November). Stop for refreshments and souvenir shopping in Narok or head straight to the park. Enjoy game viewing as you enter Masai Mara and drive to your Lodge / Tented camp.

Depending on the time of year you choose to visit, you may experience the thrill of seeing thousands upon thousands of wildebeest migrating across these plains [Migration period is between June and September].

Following lunch and a siesta, your skilled driver guide will take you on an exciting game viewing drive as you will be searching for game. The leopard is difficult to see as it moves fast and is very shy. If you're lucky there is a good chance to spot them around water holes or up in a tree after a long, hot day. This reserve hilly region is both humid and fertile, and is crossed by the Mara and Talek rivers, full of crocodiles and hippos. Soak in the abundance of untamed wilderness, fresh and natural scenery, filled with exotic wildlife during our expertly guided game drives, enjoyed in open vehicles. For those interested in a more intimate encounter, we conduct a safe and exciting walking safari where you have the chance to come face to face with nature's beauty both in flora and fauna. Latter we return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at a Lodge / Tented Camp. Meal plan full board.

Day 8: Masai Mara Game Reserve

Today we spend a full day in this amazing reserveoffering wonderful scenery and plenty of game and recently named one of the Seven Wonders of the World brought about by the crossing of river Mara by the thousands and thousands of wildebeest, a site to behold. Search for the Big 5 or expand your horizons to discover something different. At the end of the flight you land on the plains, in the midst of this enchanting savannah a champagne breakfast is laid out with the mouth watering aroma of sausages, eggs, and bacon, sizzling over a charcoal fire.
