Mombasa Excursions

Ngomongo Village

A miniature reflection of tribal community groundings. Sample their lifestyles and culture in the different tribal huts and catch a real life glimpse of what may have been before "Civilization" set in. A number of traditional huts serving different tribal groundings have been recreated in this theme village. Watch or participate in the traditional food preparation, sample the various local brews and marvel or participate in the tribal dances.

 

Bamburi Nature Trail Park (3 Hrs)

Bamburi Quarry Nature Trail excursion involves a walk through Haller Park home for wild animals, different species of birds and other tropical flora. Eland and buffalo, crocodiles and other reptiles can be seen wandering with crowned cranes. Other attractions in the Park include porcupines, peacocks, a snake park, fish farm, crocodile farm, giraffes, zebras, famous giant tortoises, hippos and a restaurant that specializes in game meat. Pre arranged tree planting at the nature trail with certificates is also possible.

 
Gedi Ruins (3 Hrs)

Gedi Historic Site is on the Mombasa-Malindi road, sixty-five miles from Mombasa and ten miles from Malindi. Drive north past Kilifi onto the ancient city of Gedi – Thereafter proceed to Malindi for lunch and an exploration of the Marine National Park in glass bottomed boat where you are taken goggling by an experienced guide. Later visit a nearby village and watch the Giriama tribe perform exciting tribal dances before driving back to Mombasa by sun down. This trip takes you to Malindi across the new Mtwapa and Kilifi bridges to visit the Gedi ruins. Continue to Malindi and view marine life in a glass - bottom boat at the Marine Park. After lunch in a local restaurant visit the Snake Farm and the Falconry. En route to Mombasa stop at a local village to watch Giriama dancers.

Gede Ruins is a 12th Century Swahili village that was mysteriously abandoned some 600 years ago due to unknown causes. It is now a National Museum, and the ruins are heavily overgrown with beautiful indigenous forest trees, baobabs and tamarind. Well worth a walk and a visit. Look out for Syke's Monkeys, and the Golden Rumped Elephant Shrew can also be seen here. A quiet, careful look in some of the old wells can turn out the odd owl, too.

 
Mamba Village (4 Hrs)

The Largest Crocodile Farm in Africa, with over 10,000 Crocodiles, Mamba Village Mombasa is located 10 kilometers from Mombasa Island and is situated along the Nyali area at links Road opposite the Nyali Golf club and en-route to all nearby major hotels along the Kenyan North Coast. Mamba Village sits right next to WILD WATERS - a Family Entertainment Park).

 
City Tour - Mombasa

Mombasa is the second-largest city in Kenya. Lying next to the Indian Ocean, it has a major port and an international airport. The distance from Nairobi to Mombasa is 500 kilometers while the flight duration is only 45 Minutes. Situated on the island, diverse and intriguing population, women in dark bui-bui or wrapped in brilliant multicolored kanga, a visit to Fort Jesus, the old town, Baobab forest, Elephant Tusks and Akamba Woodcraft. It is a steamy, tropical, low-rise city with asymmetrical streets, languid pace, and a diverse and intriguing population. It is mostly a Swahili town. The original Arabic name is Mombasa; in Swahili it is called Kisiwa Cha Mvita (or Mvita for short), which means "Island of War", due to the many changes in its ownership. The town is also the headquarters of Mombasa District which, like most other districts in Kenya, is named after its chief town.

 
Tsavo East (1 Day)

Our Safari leaves in the early morning from hotel and drives north 100 km towards the main Mombasa-Nairobi highway to Bachuma Gate. The entrance to vast wilderness of Tsavo East, Kenya’s oldest and largest park, which is where the infamous “man-eaters of Tsavo” halted the construction of the Mombasa-Uganda Railway by terrorizing railway workers.

The park covers an area of 11,000 square km. There are large herds of Elephants, Buffalo and Zebra, as well as Giraffe, Ostrich, Gazelle and Antelope. The Safari visits Aruba Dam, a favourite wildlife watering hole. We stop for lunch at a Lodge / Tented Camp. After lunch in the afternoon we take you on another game drive. Afterwards we drive you to the coast arriving at your hotel in the early evening Mombasa.

 
Fort Jesus (2 Hrs)

Fort Jesus is Mombasa’s most popular tourist attraction. The fort, located along the coastline near the Old Town, is a monumental piece of architecture that was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese. The fort has a museum that displays various artefacts from the era where Mombasa served as a transit point for the slave trade and commodities, and which enjoyed regular visits by seafarers and the like. Its interior comprises of torture rooms and prison cells where slaves were kept in captivity before being traded. Weapons such as canons, which were used to defend the fort from invading foreigners as well as rioting locals, can be seen both inside and outside of the fort. The fort opens its gates for viewing in the morning and closes at dusk.

 
Tamarind Evening Dhow (4 Hrs)

To be picked from the hotel for an evening cruise aboard a traditional dhow and enjoy the perfect combination of good food, music and romantic atmosphere on this leisurely cruise in Mombasa Old Harbour. Highlights include a sumptuous seafood meal, dancing under the stars and a gentle sail past the peaceful creeks of Mombasa Island.

 
Full day Wasini Island & Kisite Sea Adventure (1 Day)

Welcome to a day of ultimate pleasure in the richest Marine Park at the Kenyan Coast. Depart early morning for the tranquil fishing village of Shimoni, close to the Tanzanian border. The scenic route takes you through lush coconut and cashew nuts plantations and the colourful villages of the Digo people.

 
Shimba Hills National Reserve (1 Day)

For a contrasting excursion from the Coast, Shimba Hills National Reserve is an easy drive and offers beautiful, lush scenery. It has a unique and botanically rich coastal rainforest. Two of Kenya's most beautiful orchids can be found here. Another rare species, unique to the Reserve, is the Sable Antelope with its handsome near-black coat. Buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, lions, leopards and several primates are found here. The best places to see wildlife are on the flat grasslands near the spectacular Sheldrick's Falls and on the Lango Plains near Giriama Point with a tremendous view over rolling parkland to the escarpment, from where you can look out to the Indian Ocean. There are number of short walking trails at Elephant Lookout and Pengo Fill and the falls.

These terms and conditions govern the relationship between Nitarudi Africa Safaris and you, our client. Nitarudi Afrika Safaris ("NAS") presumes that you are of sufficient legal age to use the website and create binding legal obligations. These are the sole terms and conditions that will apply and by signing up for a Nitarudi Afrika Safaris trip, or any other service therein you accept to be bound by these terms and conditions.

1. Payment Terms

’The booking’ refers to part or all of the travel arrangements for transportation, accommodation, flights, sightseeing excursions, meals, entertainment and other linked services made on behalf of the client, some of which may be subcontracted from other independent suppliers. A binding contract between you, the client and Nitarudi Afrika Safaris comes into existence when we receive your booking request and a deposit payment for the booking.

A deposit of 35% of the total booking value is required in order to confirm part or all of the booking. Certain suppliers impose more stringent payment policies. Should your program include services of such suppliers, Nitarudi Afrika Safaris will advise you at the time of booking if your booking will require some additional deposit payments.

The balance is payable 60 days before the date of the first service by Nitarudi Afrika Safaris. Should the client fail to remit payments in line with these set time frames, Nitarudi Afrika Safaris reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled and thereby apply any resultant penalties.

2. Cancellations by Client

Cancellations of part or all of a booking must be received by Nitarudi Afrika Safaris in writing at least 61 days before the service date. Cancellations received less than 61 days before the service date will incur the following penalties:

  • Between 90 and 61 days - 10% of the total booking value
  • Between 60 and 35 days - 25% of the total booking value
  • Between 34 and 25 days - 35% of the total booking value
  • Between 24 and 14 days - 50% of the total booking value
  • Between 13 and 0 days - 100% booking value

All guests are strongly advised to take out comprehensive travel insurance covering them for luggage, personal effects, personal accident, medical and emergency travel expenses, cancellation and curtailment of travel arrangements because bookings will be subject to cancellation penalties as detailed above.

3. Cancellations or Changes by Nitarudi Afrika Safaris

Nitarudi Afrika Safaris reserves the right to discontinue and summarily cancel any booking in respect of which payment has fallen in arrears. In the event of this right being exercised, relevant cancellation penalties will be payable by the client or deducted from any deposit payments already made.

Note: Nitarudi Afrika Safaris is committed to maintaining a close and mutually beneficial relationship with all its clients. We realize that the satisfaction of our clients is our greatest asset. Our morals therefore are guided by a high level of professionalism, honesty and Integrity.

From the time you send us your first enquiry, you will be served by a dedicated consultant till the time you return home. Your travel arrangements will be reviewed every so often in order to eliminate chances of errors and omissions.

In the unlikely event that Nitarudi Afrika Safaris has to cancel, amend or curtail your travel arrangements due to our negligence, our failure to exercise care in making the arrangements for you and /or breach of our contractual agreement, we will take liability.

4. 3rd Party Suppliers

Nitarudi Afrika Safaris acts as a booking agent for hotels, airlines, ground transporters, boat operators, hot air balloon companies and other independent contractors providing accommodations, transportation, and other services that Nitarudi Afrika Safaris subcontracts on behalf of its clients. Each of these companies is an independent company and is not subject to the control of Nitarudi Afrika Safaris.

Nitarudi Afrika Safaris therefore will not be liable for any personal injury, property damage or loss which may occur as a result of using such subcontracted services however, Nitarudi Afrika Safaris will always endeavour to contract services of companies which in Nitarudi Afrika Safaris discretion, deliver the contracted services in the appropriate quality while adhering to the laws of the land.

In the event that any supplier is unable to provide contracted services for whatever reason, Nitarudi Afrika Safaris will endeavor to offer you alternative arrangements of similar classification whenever possible. Should you not be willing to take the alternative arrangements offered by Nitarudi Afrika Safaris, any refunds to which you may be entitled will be subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant supplier. You may not delegate convey or assign your rights duties and obligations entered with Nitarudi Afrika Safaris

5. Force Majeure

"Force Majeure" means any circumstances where the execution of contractual services is prevented or affected by factors beyond the reasonable control of Nitarudi Afrika Safaris including, but not limited to acts of God, war and threat of war, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural disasters such as weather conditions, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, fire, governmental actions and other unexpected occurrences.

In these circumstances, we shall not be liable to pay any compensation or otherwise be responsible for any expenses or losses the client may incur where we are forced as a result to cancel, delay, curtail or change the clients’ arrangements in any way or where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected.

Nitarudi Afrika Safaris also reserves the right to accept or decline any traveler on any trip, before or during the trip should such person's mental or physical condition impede the operation of the service or the rights, welfare or enjoyment of other travelers. In this case a refund of the unused land services is the limit of Nitarudi Afrika Safaris liability to the traveler removed.

We also reserve the right to alter or modify the itinerary of any tour or relocate accommodation if schedules, security matters and/or events beyond our control make such explained above.

6. Travel Documents

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that their passport, visa, health certificates, inoculations, or other documentation required for the trip are obtained, valid and that are all in order. Should Nitarudi Afrika Safaris incur any costs as a result of failure by the client to fulfill this responsibility, such costs shall be recovered from the client.
Malaria is endemic in some parts of Africa and precautions must be taken. It is recommended you visit your primary physician or local travel clinic to review any medications or recommended inoculations. Be sure to carry your inoculation certificate with you as proof of inoculations. If you are concerned about taking any medications, check with your physician before you book your trip.

7. Special Requests & Important Information

The client must either directly or through their travel agent, advise Nitarudi Afrika Safaris in writing of any special requests or important information about themselves such as diet, physical disability and any need for special treatment or handling at the time of booking.

8. Disclaimer

While great care and effort has been taken while compiling the data and information contained on this website. Nitarudi Afrika Safaris do not warrant the accuracy, Completeness or fitness for a particular purposes of any content found on this site. We therefore should not be held liable for any errors or omissions nor for any charges or liabilities incurred by any organization or individual as a result of using the information on this site.

We will endevour to resolve any complaints to your satisfaction and within reasonable time. In the unlikely event of you remaining dissatisfied please write to us setting out your complaint in detail within seven days of the end of the travel arrangements. Any complain arising after the stipulated period will have been overtaken by events.

A binding contract between you and Nitarudi Afrika Safaris only comes into being after you have fulfilled any terms applicable for the confirmation of a booking and your reservation has been accepted and a confirmation advise issued to you through e-mail. The date of the contract is the date that appears on the confirmation advise.

Where you have a contract, this contract will be governed by the laws of the country in which the services you require will be rendered and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that country.

Nitarudi Afrika Safaris reserves the right to increase or decrease prices quoted at the site at any time before your booking is made and confirmed.

While all precautions are taken to ensure your safety and enjoyment such services as you may purchase, Nitarudi Afrika Safaris and/or its agents and suppliers shall not be liable for: death, injury, delay, loss or damage arising from any cause and in any manner whatsoever; change of itinerary; acts of terrorism, acts of God or government; neglect, accident, error or omission caused by any of these suppliers or independent contractors, their employees, representatives; or, any event beyond the control of Nitarudi Afrika Safaris.

All baggage is carried at the traveler’s own risk and where applicable Nitarudi Afrika Safaris reserves the right to exclude certain baggage at its discretion.
Nitarudi Afrika Safaris may at any time modify these terms and your use of the services at the website is conditional upon the terms in force at the time of your use.
