The Lake is a Birdwatcher’s Paradise

On the floor of the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded and bushy grassland, lies the beautiful Lake Nakuru National Park. The lake is a bird watchers paradise; it was originally protected as a bird sanctuary.

The park hosts over 400 bird species and is an important stop on the African-Eurasian Migratory Flyway. It also has Kenya’s largest population of black rhinos. Visitors can enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment and picturesque ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for game drives, bird watching, hiking and picnics.

What does a safari in Lake Nakuru looks like?

Lake Nakuru offers excellent views of wildlife with most of the big safari ones available except elephants. White and black rhinos, the Rothschild giraffe, buffalos and hippos are in plenty. Once in a while you might spot a lion. Leopards are also here but they are difficult to spot as they are mostly active at night.
